Stretch Film

We offer machine grade and hand grade stretch films in blown and cast alternatives from the top manufacturers in the industry. The table at the bottom of this page contains stock sizes, specifications, and pricing. Note that stretch film is a higly volatile commodity product. Prices change monthly - if not weekly. Cast film is created by molten resin sent through a large extruder which forces a thin layer of film over a large drum that is cooled. The resulting cooled layer of plastic is then cut and rolled into rolls of stretch film. Today most stretch films (hand or machine grade) are actually multiple layers (co-extrusions) of film each with a specific purpose or feature associated. Cast film excels in 90% of all applications (see A and B loads below). With pre-stretch levels up to 250%, cast film provides optimal levels of stretch, strength, puncture resistance and cling while delivering exceptional load-holding force. Clear optics and quiet unwind, together with ease of application on most machines, make cast film a great choice for a variety of demanding applications.

Blown film is created by forcing molten resin through a circular die, creating a tube, which is blown some 30 feet high. The bubble is then flattened and cut into strips that when rolled will produce rolls of flat film. Blown film is generally labeled as a tough, hazy, and noisy stretch film best suited for industrial type applications. Blown film is far superior to cast film in load-handling force and puncture resistance. Designed to conquer the challenge of hard-to-hold loads (see C loads above), or to provide enhanced protection for regular loads, blown film offers toughness, strength, and superior tear resistance.

For hand grade films (3" to 18" in width), we offer blown and cast alternatives. Blown is hazy in appearance and noisy when unwrapped, but stronger than cast. Cast is clean in appearance and unrolls quietly, but not quite as tough as blown. We recommend using an applicator like the ones shown to the right when using hand grade films.
