Simonds full swage shanks are manufactured from special spring alloy steel. They are specially tempered for maximum spring and maximum toughness. Our shanks load smoothly, seat well in the saw plate and prevent the bit from vibrating in the cut, preventing excessive saw plate wear. The uniform, flat grinding on the sides forms the Full Swage design. The Full Swage design has superior sawdust holding capacity and keeps dust from spilling. We offer standard oversize shanks in Regular, Super, and Wintar types. Super and Wintar type shanks have built in chip breakers and should not be used with Standall or Dominator type saw bits. Speed Wrench This revolutionary new wrench features a unique, one-side loading feature, for quick and easy bit and shank replacement - no need to fumble with the "U" shaped pin. Because the new pin does not have to take the "U" shape bend, we were able to use a different and very tough steel alloy. And don't worry about the shank falling off the one-sided wrench - two small magnets keep your shank in place while loading.
