Nylon Strapping / Banding
Industrial Carbide's nylon banding offers benefits
including high tension recovery and high break strength. When pallet
loads are stacked or vibrate in transit, the strapping / banding often
becomes loose. This can cause product damage or personal injury. Nylon
banding is perfectly suited for loads that shift or shrink in transit
or storage, because it is elongated or stretched when under pressure,
and it recovers when the load shifts. This property is unique to nylon.
For use with friction weld tools
(battery or
pneumatic) or manual sealers and
tensioners, it is center embossed,
allowing for superior grip in the friction weld process and with
serrated seals. The smooth edges weld
at a slower rate, improving the joint strength. See the benefits of
nylon compared to steel and polyester below:
| Nylon vs. Steel |
Nylon vs. Polyester |
- Unlike steel bands, nylon strapping stays tight when loads shift /
settle during transit or get compressed.
- Unlike steel bands, nylon has no sharp edges and is therefore safer.
- Unlike heavy steel banding coils, nylon is easier to work with due
to lighter coil weight, reducing back injuries.
- Unlike steel bands, nylon will not rust or stain the load.
- Unlike steel bands, nylon is easy to dispose of and will not
damage forklift tires.
- Unlike steel bands, nylon is unlikely to damage loads when high
tensioning pressure is applied.
- Unlike expensive steel banding, nylon is moderately priced and
cost competitive.
|
- Unlike polyester bands, nylon elongates under high tension. When
pallet loads settle or shift in transit, polyester will loosen and may
cause a safety issue or damage products. Nylon recovers and remains
tight.
- Nylon, while offering the same break strengths and footages that
polyester offers, is usually the less expensive of the two.
- Nylon elongates 5-6%, while polyester only elongates 1-2%.
- Nylon recovers from elongation, while polyester does not.
