The Strap Chopper cuts bandsaw blades, steel strap, and seals up to 2" wide into 3-4" lengths that can be sold to metal recyclers and scrap steel businesses or simply make it is easier for you to dispose the scrap banding. It sits on a standard 55-gallon drum that accummulates the pieces. With our strap chopper, you can clean up scrap easily and profit from the waste! The machine weighs 300 lbs. costs $2400.00, and ships (F.O.B. our plant) in a week or less. It runs as a manual feed on 110 volts with a 1 hp motor. You can rotate the knives to use each of the 4 edges before they need to be sharpened.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Mount the chopper on a stable, standard 55-gallon drum.
2. Connect the chopper to any standard 110-volt power outlet.
3. Turn the chopper on or off by flipping the on / off switch located near the opening slot of the front of the chopper.
4. When the chopper is on, the motor spins the knife blade inside the unit. The blade spins quietly, so you may not notice that it is running. DANGER: NEVER INSERT FINGERS INTO THE SLOT! The slot is designed to accept steel banding material, band saw blades, and seals up to 2” wide and as thick as .050”. Do not insert any materials other than those specified above!
5. Since the chopper is a manually fed device, someone must insert steel banding or band saw blade material (6” or longer). As the material is fed into the opening slot, the rotor knife “chops” the material against the bed knife and cuts it off. The cut pieces fall into the 55-gallon drum. The material can be fed slowly for small pieces of material, or it can be fed quickly for larger pieces.
6. When finished disposing of steel banding or band saw blade material, turn the chopper off and unplug the machine.
7. Knife blades can be rotated by opening the unit, unclamping the knives from their holders, turning them around, and re-inserting them into their holders. BE SURE TO CLAMP KNIVES DOWN PROPERLY! Once the unit is properly closed, it will be ready for use again.
